Carlos Bedoya

Born in Medellín, Colombia, classical guitarist Carlos Bedoya obtained his bachelor’s degree in music education and Guitar Performance at the Rowan University and his master’s degree at Columbus State University’s “Schwob School of Music” as a student of renowned guitar pedagogue Dr. Andrew Zohn. He is currently in the process of obtaining his Doctorate in Music with a full scholarship at Indiana University where he also serves as Associate Instructor under the tutelage of Petar Jankovic.

Among his previous teachers are Sergio Assad, Ernesto Bitetti, Joseph and Kathleen Mayes, and Grammy award winner Jason Vieaux. Among his recent achievements highlights prizes in several national and international guitar competitions including: Chicago Guitar Festival (1st, 2022), Art at Serenbe Guitar Competition (3rd, 2022) Appalachian State Guitar Competition (2nd, 2022), University of Memphis International Guitar Competition (2nd, 2022), Sinaloa International Guitar Competition (2nd, 2022), Hong Kong IFA Guitar Competition (4th, 2022), Florida State University Guitar Competition (1st, 2021) Southern Guitar Festival and Competition ( 3rd, 2021) Sarajevo International Guitar Competition (3rd, 2021) Philadelphia Classical Guitar Competition (2nd, 2021).

 

He has performed as a guest artist at Florida State University, Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society, The Cape Classical Artist Concert Series, Antioquia Music Festival, Uniquindio Guitar-Art Festival, Festival de Musica de Cartagena and the prestigious Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In addition he has performed as a soloist with the Ocean City Philharmonic, Rowan University Orchestra, Northern Lights Music Festival Philharmonic and the Schwob Philharmonic Orchestra. Carlos is currently a guitar ambassador for the brand Yamaha.
