Ruben Gonzalez

A native of Holguín, Cuba, Mr. Gonzalez ́s has performed extensively throughout the world. His internationally successful career has taken him to major concert halls and venues such as the W. Lutoslawski Hall in  Warsaw, Poland, Teresa Carreño Theater of Venezuela, Carlos Piantini Hall in Santo Domingo among others. He has been featured as a soloist by renowned orchestras like the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Toast Havana Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Dominican Republic. 

Mr. Gonzales is very active in the international guitar community, he was featured by the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society in its 40th anniversary and has been invited to perform in many international festivals including X Festival "Entre Cuerdas" in Chile, the International Guitar Festival ICPNA, Lima, Guitar Festival of Gothenburg, Sweden and the Uczenia Festiva in Poland, among others. In the Dominican Republic he was featured artist at Spanish tenor José Carreras’ concert in Santo Domingo, as well as in  Berta Rojas and Paquito D’Rivera’s  tribute to the Paraguayan composer Agustín Barrios Mangoré.

 

As a pedagogue Mr. Gonzalez has been instrumental in the development of the classical guitar in the Dominican Republic.  He serves as Guitar Faculty at the National Conservatory of Music in Santo Domingo, the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) and as Director of the "Ethos" Music Academy. He is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the “Ethos” International Guitar Festival. Mr. Gonzales is a laureate of many competitions receiving top prizes in the National Guitar Competition "Amadeo Roldan" Cuba, Monterrey International Guitar Competition, Mexico, Havana International Guitar Competition and many more. He was included in the Anthology of Music by composer Leo Brouwer, he also recorded a disc with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under the auspices of MMC Recordings.
